The programs and projects of the LAJCC focus on sports, education, life skills, family growth, youth empowerment, and interpersonal and leadership development. Members have the opportunity to lead others through a variety of activities offered by the LAJCC. In so doing, they build lifelong friendships and gain valuable skills.

L.A. WATTS SUMMER GAMES

Founded in the spring of 1968 by the LAJCC, the Games were conceived by a belief in the promise of youth and respect for the dignity of human life. The name is a reminder that all Americans must seek new forms of communication with one another if we are to avoid the problems and tensions that ultimately resulted in the Watts riots of 1965.

RIORDAN VOLUNTEER LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM 

The Riordan Volunteer Leadership Development Program (RVLDP) educates and trains young professionals for life long service in the governance of non profit organizations. Topics include: fundraising, philanthropy, financial management, board development, among others.

SAFE PASSAGE TENNIS PROGRAM

The program prepares children for their future by focusing on decision-making skills, problem solving, self-esteem, and teamwork through exposure to tennis. The development of a curriculum based on sportsmanship, not winning or losing, is key to maintaining a respect for the self and game.

URBAN YOUTH GOLF PROGRAM

The Urban Youth Golf Program was founded in 1989 by the Ladies Professional Golf Association to give kids of all backgrounds, with an emphasis on those from low-income families, a chance to learn the game. Classes are conducted throughout the week in the late afternoon and are taught by LPGA and PGA teaching professionals.
