NONPROFIT BOARD TRAINING ORGANIZATIONS EXPECTATIONS

As partners in the RVLDP Intern's learning experience, nonprofit organizations are expected to actively participate in the program in the following ways:

Prior to the Board Training Experience

  • Recruit a board member to serve as Board Coach for the RVLDP Intern.
  • Participate in the RVLDP Board Training Organization Fair.
  • Be open to on-site visits from prospective RVLDP Interns during the month following the Fair.
  • Select RVLDP Intern(s) with the program director based on intern preferences.
  • Complete the Board Training Organization Fact Sheet and the Project Information Form.

During the Board Training Experience

  • Provide the intern with board meeting dates, times and locations, and any other printed materials helpful to the training experience (i.e. organization charts, by-laws, mission statement, strategic plan, etc.)
  • Provide the intern with the opportunity to become involved in board committee or task force work under the supervision of a board member or board coach.
  • Provide ongoing feedback as needed to the intern and the RVLDP director.
